Message from the Chamber President George Krebs
I want to say a few words about a man who was a big influence on me. Jack Krupnick recently passed away after an extended period of declining health. Most people know his name by the yellow real estate signs that were all over town through the years. What most people may not know is the impact Jack had on the Chamber and on the town.
Jack went way back with the Chamber. We believe he was President in the mid to late 80’s. He believed in our Chamber and in its strength as an integral part of Howell. And he backed up his beliefs with strong participation in all Chamber events. He was at all the meetings, luncheons and ribbon cuttings. In addition, he attended most Zoning and Planning Board meetings and reported back to the Chamber. He also believed strongly in the autonomy of the Chamber and was strongly opposed to any talk of merging with other local Chambers of Commerce.
He worked tirelessly for water and sewer installation on Route 9. He was instrumental in bringing Wal Mart to Howell and the Benderson and Goldenberg retail developments would not have been possible without Jack “blazing the trail” and making things happen. In Ramtown , he worked at least 20 years on the Parkside development and made what is now known as Deerwood Park a contingency of that development. And those are just some of his accomplishments.
Jack mentored me when I hardly knew anyone in Howell or in the Chamber. He never lost faith in Howell. Even in his declining health, with Bobbi at his side, he tried to make as many meetings as he possibly could. I will miss Jack Krupnick, and this town and the Chamber will miss him more than they will ever know. Rest in peace.
George A Krebs
